Eastbrook (Arrow) 5 Durley 5
With pre-season now out the way, Eastbrook were looking to start life
in Division 5 with a winning start. Taking alot of confidence away from
a very seuccessful pre-season.
John Borer started what he felt was his strongest 11 with Keith Smith playing out of position at left back.
The game started brightly with Eastbrook starting proceedings and
within the first 5 minutes were 1-0 ahead after great build up on the
right hand side, the ball found its way to Gareth Smith and he looped a
pin-point cross onto Nick McAllisters head to score the opener.
With about 20 mintues gone Durley had equalised and were now
looking strong to score again. After Dipesh Joshi had to be replaced by
Alan Woodhouse, Durley went 2-1 up with a counter attack from an
Eastbrook Corner. Johnson & McAllister got proceedings under way
again and within 30 seconds Eastbrook had equalised! Fantastic build up
between Ross & Gazz in the centre led to the ball being put out to
the left hand side wher Keith Smith & Matt McAllister teased the
Durley defence, playing the ball into Ben Johnson who then flicked it
onto Ross Chandler to coolie finish the move he started.
2-2 at Half Time the players came out for the second half looking
to go in front. After Gazz missed a chance at goal and John Borer's
suprise dicision to bring Keith off for Purchase seemed to change the
game and with in a few minutes Durley scored 3 times to put the game
beyond The Arrows...5-2!
But after a lot of pressure with only 5 minutes left Eastbrook
managed to grab 3 goals in 5 minutes to come back to draw the game in
outstanding style! A couple of very close efforts in the last few
seconds brought the game to a close with both teams agreeing a draw was
the right result! Eastbrook are up and running in the Southampton
league and now look forward to next weeks game.
FC Railway 1 Eastbrook (Arrow) Res. 3
K.Smith, G.Smith, Wong
A quality performance with 3 brillient goals. Fantastic build up to
both the first and second goals and a good finish for the third.
Brillient build up play from the whole team proved the difference
today as Eastbrook beat top of the table to move onto 4 points from 2
games
Star man: Ross Chandler
Honest Lawyer 1 Eastbrook (Arrow) Res 16
A great victory for Eastbrook Arrows Reserves. Winning in convincing
style by 16 goals to 1 with just about everybody scoring. Even an own
goal was added to the tally when an Honest Lawyer defender quite
brilliently volleyed the ball over his own keeper!
Goals from Nick McAliister (3), Ben Johnson (3), Matt McAllister
(2) Gareth Smith, keith Smith, Steve Potter, Mark Dunkinson, Alan
Woodhouse, Chris Purchase, Ross Chandler & an own goal provided the
easy win for Eastbrook.
Some fantastic performances but the Man Of The Match award goes to
Steve Potter! From right back he played fantastic all game, making his
way up to centre midfield in the second half he assisted 5 goals for
his team as well as bagging one for himself!
